Barb Buckham, Vice Chair
Ms. Buckham has years of experience working in Kitsap County with initiatives to help the homeless and with non-profit organizations including Kitsap Community Resources.
Dave De Bruyn
Mr. De Bruyn holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard and has served on many boards and in many volunteer capacities in the area.
Larry Eyer
Mr. Eyer served for nearly 40 years as Executive Director of Kitsap Community Resources. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration, and has helped create and serve on many local and state nonprofit boards.
Jamie S. Huff, PLLC
Ms. Huff is the Director of Community Guardians, a nonprofit guardianship/conservatorship agency in Kitsap County and maintains a small solo law firm focusing on guardianship matters and vulnerable adult protection. She previously worked as an attorney in the WA State Attorney General’s office for many years.
Mark Heinsoo
Mark Heinsoo is a realtor with John L. Scott in Port Orchard. With over 13 years experience in real estate, both as an agent and real estate investor, Mark excels at community outreach. Previously a top producing agent with Keller Williams, Mr. Heinsoo was a member of the Agent Leadership Council. Prior to real estate, Mr. Heinsoo was in the publishing business for 17 years, serving as editor and/or publisher for various publications, including: The Silverlake Local, Rapport Magazine, Southern California Senior Life, and California Contractor. Mr. Heinsoo also launched Northwest Senior Life and grew it to a circulation of 50,000 in the Portland Metro area. Former Board member of both OASIS Portland and Northwest Senior Expo. Currently on the Board of Directors for the Polaris Theater in downtown Port Orchard as well as Chairman of the Port Orchard Yacht Club (POYC) Yearbook Committee and Co-Chair of the POYC Membership Committee, Mr. Heinsoo is also a member of 100 Who Care – Kitsap.
Denise Hughes, MSN, RN, GHMS, Secretary
Ms. Hughes has over 20 years experience working in the field of Geriatric nursing and management at Kitsap Mental Health Services. She has extensive experience working with people with mental health issues and chemical dependency.
Brian Lawler
Brian Lawler is a lawyer, who for over 40 years, has practiced in the areas of real estate, land use, and environment law. He is also counsel to several non-profits and foundations. Mr. Lawler was an adjunct faculty member at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington for 17 years. He has served on many boards on Bainbridge Island, Kitsap County, and Seattle.
Terry Shroader
Mrs. Shroader worked for the Department of Social and Health Services for 31 years as a social worker and community resource manager. When working at DSHS, she served on the board of Kitsap Community Resources, the Literacy Council of Kitsap, and Commmunitas. In retirement, she worked for KCR as a coordinator for the Coninuum of Care Coalition (now known as the Kitsap Housing and Homelessness Coaliation) and as a navigator for the Housing Solutions Center. She currently works with the organization of the Project Connect event and is involved with dahlias. As board members of the American Dahlia Society, you can often find her and her husband at dahlia shows throughout the summer or at the trial garden at Point Defiance Park.
Helen Stoll, Chair
Following a successful career in nursing, Ms. Stoll now focuses on continuing to give back to her community through volunteering at various organizations in the county, including Kitsap Homes of Compassion. She is also currently registered as an Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioner for Washington state.
Executive Director
Scott Willard, MA, SRC
Scott comes to Kitsap Homes of Compassion with over 30 years of community-based service experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling. Scott spent 18 of those years administering substance abuse treatment agencies and county mental health programs in Lincoln and Crook County, Oregon. Scott is excited to bring his experience in supported employment, supported housing and innovative approaches to serving the chronically mentally ill to Kitsap Homes of Compassion.
